Two new members appointed to NARUC’s Board of Directors

The Chair of the New York Public Service Commission and the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities have both been appointed to NARUC’s Board of Directors.

WASHINGTON—National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners President Colette D. Honorable appointed two new members to the Association’s Board of Directors.

Commissioners Audrey Zibelman, chair of the New York Public Service Commission, and Jolette Westbrook of the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities will begin their terms immediately.

The NARUC Board of Directors consists of 20 members plus the Association’s President, the First and Second Vice Presidents, Treasurer, and each Past-President who is still a member of the organization. Board members are appointed by the NARUC President. As the supervisory body, the Board oversees NARUC’s general and financial functions and approves resolutions that serve as the Association’s policy.

“My thanks to Chair Zibelman and Commissioner Westbrook for agreeing to serve in this important role,” said President Honorable. “The NARUC Board of Directors provides oversight and supervision to our organization. We are blessed with amazing talents like our two newest members. On behalf of the Board, I look forward to working with them going forward.”

Chair Zibelman was appointed to the New York PSC in June 2013 and named chair in September. Her term runs through Feb. 1, 2018. She is a member of the NARUC Committee on Electricity. As chair of the PSC, she sits on State Energy Planning Board. She is also Chair of the New York State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment. She sits on the board of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, the board of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Inc., the New York State Disaster Preparedness Commission, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Task Force.
