COLUMBUS, OHIO (Feb. 20, 2014) – The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) today officially launched the new Energy Choice Ohio website, www.energychoice.ohio.gov, dedicated to consumer education regarding electric and natural gas choice in Ohio. The new website was developed specifically to be the premier resource for Ohio’s energy consumers seeking information and offer comparisons regarding electric and natural gas supplier choices.
“I am excited to be presenting this new tool to assist consumers when choosing their electric or natural gas supplier and better understand Ohio’s evolving energy markets,” stated PUCO Chairman Todd A. Snitchler. “We worked with representatives from consumer advocacy groups and industry groups to develop the most helpful and user-friendly site intended to educate consumers and assist them in making decisions regarding energy choice that is best for their home or business.”
More than four million customers in Ohio now purchase their electric and/or natural gas supply from a competitive retail supplier rather than from the utility.
The new Energy Choice Ohio website offers information to help consumers understand electric and natural gas choice, including what steps they need to take when switching suppliers; what their rights are as a consumer; what aggregation is; and a frequently asked questions page that represents questions the PUCO has received while visiting all 88 counties in the state offering consumer education presentations on energy choice.
